“The core failure in the upbringing of our children is that we have no worry or concern for our children’s religious future. In reality we only have three major concerns: The first is their physical wellbeing, the second is their financial wellbeing and the third is their obedience to us.
If our children are obedient to us, we remain happy with them and also praise them. However, if these same children miss Salaah, go to the cinema or spend hours upon hours watching videos at home, then we are not in the least concerned. Our only concern is that our children should do whatever we say. If that aspect is ok, we turn a blind eye to all the sins they indulge in.”

“Throughout the world, thousands are graced every year by Allāh ta’ālā to carry out one of the greatest obligations and worships hajj. The many virtues and rewards related to this great act of worship have been mentioned in the last issue.
However, for hajj to be accepted and for one to reap all its spiritual fruits, it will need to be performed with due care, ensuring that all its rituals are carried out correctly, along with assuring that no sin is committed. The Prophet sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam said:”

“If a husband becomes angry at his wife, he should stop and think to himself, ‘How would I expect my son in law to treat my daughter if she made a mistake?
My wife is also someone’s daughter and I am also someone’s son-in-law. Therefore, I should control my temper and treat her appropriately.’”

A Deep Yearning to Perform Hajj Wednesday, August 19, 2015

“Hajj is one of the fundamental pillars of Islām. Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam has said:
Islām is founded on five (pillars): bearing witness that there is no deity except Allāh and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allāh, establishing salāh, paying zakāh, performing hajj and fasting in the month of Ramadhān. (Al-Bukhārī)
Hajj is no insignificant ritual. Rather, it is a great worship which encompasses both physical struggle and sacrifice of wealth. It is an ‘ibādah of expressing love for the Creator and showing a personification of the submission of Ibrāhīm ‘alayhis salām.”

“It is much better to be humble than proud! It is an accepted fact that whatever is rare holds great value. Take the example of diamonds or gold; because they are scarce and difficult to acquire, people value them with great desire to posses them.
Keeping this in mind, look at the condition of the people around you. You will find those who are proud and also those who are humble.
Unfortunately, during our time those that are proud and arrogant hugely outweigh those who are humble; humbleness has become a very scarce quality.
Thus people will be attracted to those who possess humility just as they are attracted to other rare items in this world.”
