“Allah ta’ala will repay us for our spending according to our sincerity: the more sincerity the greater the return. Likewise, the more the sacrifice the greater the reward.”

“Every good action we perform needs to be accompanied by ikhlaas (correct intention) for it to be accepted in the court of Allah ta’ala.
After getting into the habit of performing a particular good deed, some people begin to worry about whether they are still mainting ikhlaas or not.
They soon start to feel that their intention has become corrupted and that they have become involved in riyaa (ostentation, show).

“Riya is generally understood as doing an action to show someone else other than Allah ta’ala. However to leave an action because of someone other than Allah is also classed as Riya.
For example performing two Rakaah Nafl Salah to show someone else is Riya. Likewise to not perform these two Rakaah because someone else is watching is also Riya.”

Following the opening of the Islamic Da’wah Academy it was mentioned to our respected Shaykh that visitors had been praising the quality and beauty of the new premises. Upon this Shaykh replied that:
Praises do not really matter. What really matters is whether this project is accepted by Allah ta’ala.
Yes, acceptance in the eyes of the creation is a sign of acceptance in the eyes of the Creator. But this is a good omen and not proof.
Therefore one should not become content upon this only.

Our respected Shaykh recently mentioned a very intricate point:

Likewise if a person leaves an action with the thought that people may class him as being pious then this is also Riyaa.

“We should never consider ourselves to be better than another. This is because to be better than someone else you need to be fully aware of the status and practices of the other party.
For example a person may own a house worth fifty thousand pounds and another person may own a house worth fifty five thousand pounds. However this does not mean that the second person is richer than the first.

Our respected Shaykh recently mentioned an incident full of wisdom from the lives of two of the greatest scholars of the recent era; Shaykh Hussain Ahmed Madani rahmatullahi alayh and Shaykh Ilyas rahmatullahi alayh.
These two great personalities were once invited to deliver lectures at the same time in nearby locations. On coming to know that Shaykh Ilyas was scheduled to lecture in a town nearby, Shaykh Hussain Ahmed mentioned to the audience that it would be of greater virtue and benefit if they were all to take part in the gathering of Shaykh Ilyas.

“Shaykh ul Hadeeth, Zakariyya rahmatullahi alayh, used to say that if a person thinks to himself that he needs to exercise humbleness, then in reality he is not humble.
Humility in reality is that a person thinks himself to be nothing and thus he does not even realise that he is being humble.”
