“From our pious predecessors are those who would spend all night in salah and then pray to Allah, expressing their shortcomings and begging forgiveness. They would say: ‘O Allah, we are not worthy of asking You for Jannah, nor are we worthy of asking You for deliverance from the Fire, but we have no choice but to do so.’
Their condition was as mentioned in the Qur’an: ‘They used to sleep little in the night. And in the hours before dawn they used to pray for forgiveness.’ (51:17-18)
Despite not having a burden of sin on their shoulders, they would do istighfar abundantly. Our condition is the reverse: even after committing sins we do not ask for forgiveness.”

“Sometimes the thought of repenting from sin may cross the mind of a sinful person, but he will think, “I am a sinner. How will Allah forgive me?” Remember, this is a trick of Shaytaan.
The thought of repentance is a guest sent from Allah, and therefore should be welcomed and entertained. The way to do this is to put this thought into practice by repenting to Allah.
Remember it is Allah ta’ala who sent this thought. Therefore one should take it to mean that He wants one to repent.”

“We all face difficulties in this world at some time or other. When we do, we should remember that everything has a solution. Ask from Allah ta’ala, make du’aa, do tawbah and do dhikr; these will allow you access to the solutions to your problems.”

“After a person repents from a sin he should remove it from his mind altogether. He should not even mention it to Allah, as it is now wiped out from his account.”

“When Allah ta’ala inflicts difficulties upon His servants, then in reality these events are a mercy rather than a form of punishment.
Alllah ta’ala causes such situations to occur so that His servants reflect, repent and resolve to transform their lives.”

“After committing a sin one should always seek forgiveness from Allah ta’ala. One should repent even he has to do so a hundred times a day.
This is because tawbah has the effect of eventually helping a person stop the particular sin from which he was repenting.”

“Imagine if a father and son, due to some dispute were to stop communicating with one another. If a friend were to come along and help bring the father and son back together it is very likely that the father will be pleased with this man forever.
Allah ta’ala loves His servants more than a father loves his son. Hence we can only imagine how pleased Allah ta’ala will be with those servants who try to reunite once again those who have cut off their ties with their Creator.”

“After committing a mistake in the court of Allah ta’ala Adam alayhis salam realised, accepted and repented for his mistake. Shaytaan also realised that he made a mistake but he never turned to Allah ta’ala in repentence.
Therefore whoever is given the tawfeeq to realise, accept, and repent after sinning is on the path of Adam alayhis salam whilst the one who is deprived of this is on the path of Shaytaan.”

“How a many times have we repented and spoilt the efforts of Shaytaan? Yet has he ever given up trying to mislead us?
Thus if we slip into sin why should we give up trying to rectify our mistakes and return to Allah?”

“The tears that are shed due to the fear of Allah or out of his love are so great that they should not be wasted.
They are so blessed that one should wipe these tears over his face rather then letting them waste away.”
