“ The masnoon du’as of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam are very valuable, for he never uttered any words pointlessly, nor did he ever say anything worthless. His du’as were inspired by the Creator, who knows what His creation is in need of during every moment of life.

By practicing masnoon du’as, you will be engaged in the remembrance of Allah subhanahu wata‘alaa throughout the day, from waking, doing wudhu, eating, going out…all the way to retiring to bed again at night.

Another way of looking at it is that by practicing masnoon du’as, you will not remain neglectful of Allah subhanahu wata‘alaa for long during the day; as the various occasions demand, you will remember Allah subhanahu wata‘alaa by offering the relevant du’a.”

“We do not try to attract the mercy and help of Allah subhanahu wata‘alaa in our du’as in the way we should. We discuss the state of the ummah and its problems and politics for hours on end, yet we cannot take out five minutes to beseech Allah subhanahu wata‘alaa – the One who is fully able to improve our condition – for help.”

“We all face difficulties in this world at some time or other. When we do, we should remember that everything has a solution. Ask from Allah ta’ala, make du’aa, do tawbah and do dhikr; these will allow you access to the solutions to your problems.”

“How sad is it that we greet strangers with salaam and bless them with our du’a, yet we deprive our wives and children of this du’a?

The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam has emphasised salaam so much that he has instructed us to do salaam even when we enter an empty house.”

“My respected Shaykh Haji Farooq rahmatullahi alayh used to say:

Du’as can take three forms:

1) You can make du’a yourself.

2) You can request someone to make du’a for you.

3) You can attract spontaneous du’as from someone’s heart (by pleasing them such that they make du’a without any prompting, from the depths of their heart).

Try to acquire the third kind.”

“Du’a is not making the possible possible, it is making the impossible possible. We should always turn to Allah ta’ala for every little need because Allah ta’ala is the one who can make the possible impossible and the impossible possible.

We should never say to ourselves: “This is a very common thing so there is no need to make du’a.” Neither should we think: “This is just impossible, so what’s the use in making du’a?”

“In this day and age, a driving test is more important to us than our fellow Muslims who are suffering around the world!

When we have a driving test, we stand on the prayer mat and pray two raka’at salaat-ul-haajat, but we cannot stand on the prayer mat and pray for our Muslim brothers and sisters in need.”
