Every Sin Carries the Effects of Disbelief Tuesday, November 10, 2009

“Our scholars and pious predecessors have noted that every disobedience of Allah ta’ala carries within itself the taint of kufr (disbelief) to some degree. This is why one who is constantly involved in sins is considered to be endangering his imān.

A flagrant sinner will be disinclined to repent, and may eventually land himself in destruction by beginning to question faith, and eventually denounce faith in Allah ta’ala altogether (may Allah ta’ala protect us).”

“In a Hadith Qudsi Allah ta’aala says:

“I deal with my servant according to his thoughts regarding me.” (Tirmidhi)

Whatever the situation, a believer should always have positive thoughts regarding Allah ta’aala. Even someone suffering a terminal illness should have hope that Allah ta’aala can grant recovery if He wills. A mu’min needs to have positive thoughts regarding his Creator, because a person will be dealt with according to his thoughts regarding Him.

If we hold negative thoughts that Allah ta’aala will not remove our difficulties, then Allah ta’aala will deal with us according to our thoughts. Under all circumstances, it is fardh (compulsory) upon every believer to entertain positive and good thoughts regarding his Creator.”

“Some people desire to acquire the friendship of Allah without having to exert any effort or make any sacrifice. If the friendship of Allah could be acquired by just wishing, there would be no reward in it, for we would have acquired it without any effort on our behalf.

Remember things don’t just happen. You have to make them happen.

During book reading on Sunday evening at Masjid Al-Faruq, the following hadeeth qudsi was disucssed:

“I am with him (My servant) when he remembers me…”

Shaykhul Hadeeth Mawlana Muhammad Zakariyya rahimahullah, commentating on the hadeeth, explains that Allah ta’ala is with all people, but what is meant here is that Allah’s special attention is focused on that person.

Our respected Shaykh hafizahullah explained this to us with a beautiful example which made the meaning of the hadeeth clear for us:

One of the arguments of the disbelievers of Makkah was that prophethood should have been conferred to one of the wealthy individuals from the towns of Makkah or Taif.

In reply, Allah ta’ala says that when even the distribution of sustenance has not been left up to  human beings, how will He place in their hands the authority of choosing a Prophet?

“When a child has a tantrum and cries for chocolates and sweets, a mother will not give in. She knows what is more beneficial for her child and will only give that.

At that time, not giving chocolates and sweets is what is best for the child.

Similarly, when we cry and beg Allah ta’aala to answer our prayers we receive nothing but goodness.

“Whilst the Prophet Sulayman alayhisalaam was travelling, he was commanded by Allah ta’ala to strike his staff upon a stone.

The stone fell open, and inside it was a tiny hole; inside the tiny hole was a tiny insect eating a leaf. While the insect was eating the leaf, it was reciting:
