You may have noticed that we have introduced two new features on In Shaykh’s Company over the past few weeks.

The ‘Verses’ section is a selection of poetry taken from our respected Shaykh’s teachings. Inshallah this will be updated weekly.

The ‘Advices’ section contains compilations of Shaykh’s teachings on a variety of topics related to tazkiyah and everyday life.

We hope that our readers will find these new features of benefit inshallah

Assalamualaykum Warahamatulahe Wabarakatu,

Jazakallah to all the readers for being patient as we were unable to upload any posts in the past few days.  The blog team were busy with a variety of other things which in turn prevented from updating the blog.  Although it seems from the web statistics that it didn’t stop many of you reading many previous posts from the archives.

To end this particular post we would like to convey one of Shaykh’s request that he made to the gathering on Friday, so you the readers and contributors can also participate wherever you are in the world:

This week Jameah Riyaadul Uloom (the seminary that Shaykh founded and teaches Sahih al-Bukhari in) will be having their mid-term exams, after the Majalis Shaykh said “The students will be having their exams this week, and I hope that all of you will make dua for them; that they pass with high grades, and ultimately that they complete their studies and Allah takes great work of them”.

We’ve made little tweaks to the control panel to the right to help you (the readers of the blog) navigate around more easily.

We’ve moved the (search by date) calender down, as most of you use the ‘recent posts’ or ‘top posts’ more often, we’ve moved it up those items more prominence on the blog.  We’ve also increased the recent post section to display the 15 most recent posts rather then 5.

We hope this helps.

Just to clarify:

A reader very kindly pointed out a semantic error that may cause ambiguity amongst our readership in a previously published post, and to put it in the words of the reader “[the word] Sainthood has a lot of un-islamic connotations”.  We have therefore revised this on the particular article in question to wali – literally friend, and more broadly used as a friend of Allah.

The reason for highlighting this alteration is not only to commend the reader but also encourage others to help in spotting any errors, contribute by reading, writing, and promoting to convey our noble Shaykh’s (may Allah preserve and increase him) words and teachings in the most accurate and precise manner.

Just a reminder for the comments feature to be used appropriately; alhumdulillah, most of you are, however some are using this feature as a forum or chat room, i.e. to make personal comments about the writers etc. You already know from a previous post that we will remove any inappropriate comments that we deem to be obscuring the function of this blog. We therefore like to encourage that the comments feature to be a place for you to have your say regarding the article or your experiences with Shaykh, only. Anything otherwise and we administrators have to spend a lot limited-time moderating, which can be used for development of the blog.
