“Taking an oath is not a mundane action; it is a very serious matter. However, we see people taking oaths by the name of Allah over very small and petty issues. Some people even take oaths knowing they are lying, with the thought that they will repent later.

This is a very severe matter and must not be toyed around with. Taking an oath by Allah’s name should send shivers down the spine.”

“We tend not to pay attention to our children, e.g. when we have conversations amongst adults we just send them into the next room.

If we were to keep them with us during appropriate discussions they would learn how to behave with other people and how to conduct themselves.

If they just stay with other children all the time, their level of understanding and behaviour will not develop.”

“A person doing mujahadah against his nafs when tempted by sin is not true taqwaa; true taqwaa is when the heart has hatred for sin and wants to stay well away from it.”

“Allah ta’ala says in the Qur’aan that Shaytaan promises us, i.e. he deceives us into thinking that if we spend in the path of Allah we will become poor.

He makes us think that by giving zakaah we will suffer loss. And if we do fulfill the fardh of zakaah then he prevents us from any further voluntary spending.

Giving da’wah always has an effect as long as the intention is correct, the method is correct and the words of the da’wah are correct.

“The Prophet sallahu alayhi wasallam has said in a hadeeth that a good question is half of ‘ilm. A good question is one that is asked with sincerity, genuineness and not to display one’s knowledge.”

“Why should there be a need for anyone to cajole us to learn ‘ilm? ‘Ilm has come directly from Allah ta’ala and fortunate are those who are able to acquire it.”

A complete Muslim is one from whose words and actions others are safe

“From this hadith, we learn that just as an ‘aalim of Deen who has strayed from the right path does not deserve to be called an ‘aalim, despite his attaining the knowledge of Deen,a Muslim, despite having imaan and all the outward signs of being a Muslim, does not deserve the title of Muslim if by his words or actions he causes grief, hurt, or inconvenience to even a single person

Thus we should do our utmost to avoid causing pain and inconvenience to others. And if by chance we do, then we must immediately seek forgiveness from them. On the other hand, if others cause us pain or inconvenience, we should forgive them without even being asked.”
