“Every mu’allim (teacher of ‘ilm) should be concerned with the education as well as the tarbiyah of his/her students.
Tarbiyah means to motivate one’s students to practice what is taught.
A mu’allim should leave no stone unturned in both these matters.”

“There are two questions which we, and in particular those attending college or University, should ask ourselves before doing any action:
1) If I do this action, will my family be put to shame? if yes, refrain from it.
2) If I do this action, will Allah become displeased? if yes, refrain from it.”
Love for Deen, Love for ‘Ulamaa Saturday, March 21, 2009

“One should have love for the ‘ulamaa. Criticising the ‘ulama and finding fault with them are very detrimental actions that can destroy ones’s imaan. One who has a grudge or hatred towards the ‘ulamaa actually has hatred for the Deen.
Imagine if you were to go to a place where you did not know anyone and suddenly you found out that a fellow countryman lived there. You would feel a sudden inclination towards him and would want to meet him. Why? Because of your attachment and love for your country.
Similarly, a person having love for the Deen will have love for the ‘ulamaa. And a person having hatred for Deen will have hatred for the ‘ulamaa.”

“The first lesson taught to the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam in the Cave of Hira began with the instruction: “Read”. Allah ta’ala was the teacher and the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam was the student.
During that first lesson no mention was made of Hajj, Salaah, Sawm or Zakaah; the very first order was to acquire knowledge, and the means mentioned was ‘the pen’.
This shows the importance of acquiring ‘ilm, for there is no Deen without ‘ilm.
Success depends on practicing the whole Deen and ‘ilm is the door to attaining the whole Deen.

“The existence of Islamic culture is dependent on the Qur’aan and ahadeeth. Without the existence of Islamic culture, it is very difficult to practice the Deen.
The only place where the preservation of the Qur’aan and ahadeeth takes place is the Madaaris. From this we can appreciate how important the Madaaris are.”

Allah Deals With Us According to Our Thoughts Saturday, March 14, 2009

“In a Hadith Qudsi Allah ta’aala says:
“I deal with my servant according to his thoughts regarding me.” (Tirmidhi)
Whatever the situation, a believer should always have positive thoughts regarding Allah ta’aala. Even someone suffering a terminal illness should have hope that Allah ta’aala can grant recovery if He wills. A mu’min needs to have positive thoughts regarding his Creator, because a person will be dealt with according to his thoughts regarding Him.
If we hold negative thoughts that Allah ta’aala will not remove our difficulties, then Allah ta’aala will deal with us according to our thoughts. Under all circumstances, it is fardh (compulsory) upon every believer to entertain positive and good thoughts regarding his Creator.”

“Allah does not judge a person’s status by the amount of worship he does. Rather, He judges people on how much they stay away from the disobedience of Allah. It is a deceit from
Shaytaan that he makes us look at the multitude of worship we are doing while keeping us blind to the sins that we are committing.”
