“White clothes were liked greatly by the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam. So even though other colours are permissible, one should try to wear white, for white is the beloved colour of our beloved Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam.”

“Allah ta’ala granted the renowned scholar Shaykh Abul Hassan Ali Nadwi rahamtullahi alayh such acceptance that once during the period of Hajj, the Imam of the Haram, Shaykh Khayyat, quoted the name of Shaykh Abul Hassan and a teaching from one of his books during the Friday Khutbah.

The great Shaykh upon hearing this began to shed tears of gratitude to Allah. Seeing his reaction the people around him asked him after the Salaah who Shaykh Abul Hassan was as they felt that he must be very close to him.

However such was his humility that those around him did not even realise that he was the very Shaykh whom the Imam had just quoted with such reverence and honour.”

“As a young child the renowned Shaykh Saadi rahmatullahi alayh had to opportunity to perform Itikaaf with his father. At Tahajjud time father and son awoke, read the Salaah of Tahajjud and made dua.

After completing their worship Shaykh Saadi said to his father, ‘These other people are so negligent that they are sleeping and not performing tahajjud.’

To this his father replied ‘Saadi, it would have been better had you slept the whole night than performed tahjjud.’ (more…)

It is common belief amongst people that the beard is Sunnah. It is Sunnah in the sense that it is the way of the Prophet s and the sahaba. However in practice it is in fact Waajib to grow the beard. Just as one performs three witr after Isha, likewise, growing of the beard is also Waajib. One should also remember that in terms of practice, Fardh and Waajib are of the same level.
If one looks in the pages of history he will find that from amongst the approximately 100,000 prophets u that none amongst them was without a beard. This is why the Prophet s said that it (the beard) is from the way of the prophets u.
On the same token we will not find a single companion of the Prophet u, a single muhaddith nor a single wali who did not have a beard.

Following the opening of the Islamic Da’wah Academy it was mentioned to our respected Shaykh that visitors had been praising the quality and beauty of the new premises. Upon this Shaykh replied that:

Praises do not really matter. What really matters is whether this project is accepted by Allah ta’ala.

Yes, acceptance in the eyes of the creation is a sign of acceptance in the eyes of the Creator. But this is a good omen and not proof.

Therefore one should not become content upon this only.

“One of the grand children of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam once picked up a date and started eating it. Upon seeing this, the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam hastily took the date out of the young child’s mouth.

He sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam thereafter explained to the child that because he was from the descendants of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam it was not permissible for him to eat the Sadaqah (and thus he could not consume the date). (more…)

The Beard
Once in the time of the Prophet s two non-Muslim ambassadors came to him from the king of Persia. Even though they were not Muslim and they were not compelled to keep a beard, the Prophet s could not bear to see their faces without a beard. Upon seeing them, he turned his blessed face away and asked them who instructed them to do this. They replied: “Our lord (king).” (more…)
